Part 2: Opulent Second Floor of Our Johns Creek New Build

Not long ago, I shared the breathtaking designs for the first floor of our Johns Creek new build project, and I’m thrilled to share even more with you today as progress continues. As you may remember, our clients are building their forever dream home—a luxurious reflection of their vision, values, and background, filled with opulent, personalized details.

The second floor of this beautiful home includes the primary suite and 3 bedrooms and bathrooms for the couple’s daughters. While we carefully designed each space to feel cohesive with the home’s overall aesthetic—cream and gold elements to evoke timeless luxury—each is also distinctive, reflecting the individuality of each family member.

Let’s step inside and explore the spaces…

Romantic Primary Suite

The primary suite oozes with romance and opulence. The bedroom itself is the pinnacle of enchantment with delicate decorative floral ornaments adorning the wall paneling and ceiling design. Hanging in the center of the room is a stunning chandelier with reflective ovals complementing the ceiling detail. There is no doubt that the couple will enjoy retreating to this quiet haven of luxury at the end of each day.

The headboard wall is typically the focal point of a bedroom, and you’ll notice that in each bedroom, we highlight this feature. For the primary suite, we designed an upholstered headboard with a custom back-lit wall, accented with paneling, paint, and wall coverings. The result is simply jaw-dropping.

Let’s move into the adjoining primary bathroom…

Spa-Inspired Primary Bathroom

This spa-inspired bathroom is the ultimate in luxury with beautiful marble floors and cream and gold elements. We carried the delicate trim molding and ornaments into the bathroom to maintain a cohesive flow throughout the two spaces.

While this bathroom includes a variety of standout features, the 2 custom mirrors facing each other are indeed special. Our clients had requested a large framed mirror, and we delivered exactly that with added sophistication. These unique mirrors have beveled edges and wall sconces mounted on them for a clean look.

Adjacent to the sinks is the exquisite shower, which features a state-of-the-art Kohler Anthem smart shower system with body sprays and thermostatic valves. The couple can easily control the water flow and temperature for an unrivaled experience.

To give enough clearance between the vanity and shower (and the makeup vanity and tub below), we customized the cabinetry to have a full 24-inch depth in the center sections and 18-inch depth in the flanking drawers. This not only added distinctive character to the cabinetry, but also created a spacious flow between the areas.

Initially, the design didn’t include space for a makeup vanity space, but after discussing our client’s needs, we decided it would be important to add this feature across from the dual sinks. This layout gives our client plenty of storage space for her jewelry, a refrigerator drawer for her cosmetics, and a comfortable area for sitting.

Without question, the bathtub area is a showstopper. We designed the wall behind the tub to be panelled with a large onyx slab that will be backlit for impressive brilliance. This peaceful sanctuary will be a serene and satisfying way to unwind in style.

Neutral Bedroom with Understated Glam

This tranquil bedroom retreat will belong to the couple’s eldest daughter who loves beige and neutral tones with a dash of glam. The space reflects her interests with soothing tones, soft textures and a captivating chandelier elevating the entire room.

We added a recessed slot in the ceiling near the window in each of the daughters’ bedrooms to conceal the drapery track and rod. This creates a sleek, flowy feel with wall-to-wall drapery in each room. The drapery hung from the ceiling gives a clean, sophisticated look, perfectly complementing the style of the home.

In the adjoining bathroom, we emphasized the daughter’s love of glam with a reflective gold wallcovering, a playful mirror, and dramatic sconces. Coordinating fixtures and drawer pulls add additional shine to this feminine, sophisticated space. 

Crisp Geometric-Inspired Bedroom & Bathroom

Unlike her older sister, the couple’s middle daughter has a love of cool grays and greens, and we designed her bedroom and bathroom to align with her preferences. The geometric tile in the bathroom is crisp and clean in both angles and colors, making the space feel fresh and polished.

In the bedroom, we drew inspiration from the bathroom tile pattern for the headboard design, emphasizing the geometric angles in a sophisticated way. The closet in this bedroom is quite small, so we added built-ins on either side of the headboard for additional storage. 

Feminine Bedroom with Sophisticated Touches

The couple’s youngest daughter has a bedroom fit for a sweet, feminine princess. So many little girls love pink, and she is no exception. We used a more sophisticated palette of blush pinks, cream and gold to ensure that this is a room she will love for years to come.

The bathroom wall color and the color on the marble flower wall tiles were inspired by the wallcovering behind the headboard, creating a seamless flow from bedroom to bathroom. Like the middle daughter’s bedroom, this bedroom has a small closet, so built-ins are a smart and stylish storage solution.

Elegant, Personalized Bedrooms & Bathrooms 

Although this home is still under construction, the family and I are all eager to see it come to life. The family’s daughters, especially, are looking forward to enjoying their own personalized spaces—no fights over who gets the best room (and if you have siblings, you know what I mean!). I take this as a compliment that we’ve designed each room well for each daughter. 

And as for the couple, they are thrilled with the design (and their daughters’ excitement!), and can’t wait to relax in their own personal five-star retreat.
