Thoughtful design, custom solutions, and spaces crafted for family life — this Marietta home renovation achieves the perfect balance of beauty and function for a growing family.
This lovely couple, along with their children, had no desire to leave their beloved neighborhood, but they knew their home could better serve their daily routines and their love of entertaining family and friends.
Project Scope & Challenges
Our wonderful clients approached us with a clear vision: they wanted their beloved home to better support their active lifestyle. They dreamed of a kitchen that would accommodate large family gatherings, a primary bathroom that felt like a true retreat, and more storage solutions to keep their busy household organized.
With their vision at the forefront, we created moodboards highlighting a warm, organic palette layered with brushed brass accents, natural textures, and timeless finishes that feel both elevated and inviting. Each element was thoughtfully selected to reflect their style and support the way they live, setting the tone for every space to follow.

For this renovation, we reimagined three key areas of their home through strategic layout changes and custom design solutions. Our primary focus was creating seamless flow between spaces while maximizing both function and beauty. The full scope included:
Complete kitchen redesign with custom island and relocated cooktop
Walk-in pantry conversion with direct garage access
Relocated and expanded laundry room from the first floor to the second floor
Primary bathroom transformation with spa-like amenities
Custom cabinetry throughout all spaces
Thoughtful lighting and storage solutions
This renovation took five months of design and planning before construction ever began. That extended phase allowed us to dive deep into how the family truly lives — when they gather, where they relax, how they move between spaces — and craft tailored solutions that support every part of their daily rhythm.

A Kitchen Designed for Connection
As you can see from the image below, the kitchen felt enclosed and visually heavy before the renovation. The tiered peninsula disrupted natural sight lines and created a layout that limited connection to the adjacent living areas and pond view—leaving the space feeling more segmented than social.

Now, the heart of this home perfectly balances family life with entertaining…

Ahh, what a difference! By removing the original peninsula, we opened sight lines to their stunning pond view while creating space for a custom island that serves multiple purposes throughout their day. The relocated cooktop takes center stage with a custom statement range hood, creating a beautiful focal point while maximizing those serene water views.
As with every kitchen we design, cabinetry played a major role here — not just visually, but functionally. From silverware and cutting boards to coffee mugs and glass trays, we meticulously specify what goes into every cabinet. This level of detail not only ensures a seamless construction process for the cabinet maker but also brings peace of mind to our clients, knowing there is a designated place for every item from their current kitchen and more.
Tip: Cabinets are some of the most heavily used elements in a kitchen, which is why we always recommend allocating at least 30% of the remodel budget to well-constructed, thoughtfully designed storage. Whether using our custom cabinetry line, Artiqa Cabinetry, or another solution, investing in quality craftsmanship ensures your space works efficiently while looking beautiful.

The custom island spans the space beautifully, providing ample seating for family meals while maintaining clear pathways for entertaining. Additionally, we converted the original laundry room into a walk-in pantry that connects directly to the garage. Now, grocery unloading flows seamlessly: garage to pantry to kitchen. Success.
It's these thoughtful details that transform daily routines from ordinary to effortless.
A Multi-Functional Laundry Room
Moving to the second floor, we discovered the perfect opportunity to relocate their laundry room from the first floor to the former office space.

This creative solution brought the laundry conveniently closer to upstairs bedrooms while creating something truly special — a multi-functional retreat.

Custom built-in cabinetry provides organized storage for supplies while movable bins tucked under a folding table make transport and organization simple. But we didn't stop at practical functionality…
The husband made one thoughtful request: comfortable seating in each space so he could listen when his wife wanted to catch up on daily life. In the new laundry room, we brought that vision to life with a cozy upholstered window seat nestled beside a coffee bar and reading nook.
What was once a purely functional space now offers a moment of quiet respite — a place to enjoy a latte and a good book while the laundry runs nearby. It's these small, intentional touches that make everyday tasks feel like small luxuries.
A Spa-Like Primary Bathroom
In its original form, the primary bathroom featured a dated layout with bulky columns and open sightlines to the hallway — offering little privacy and even less serenity. Let’s take a look…

While the dual vanities provided functional storage, the overall space lacked the calming ambiance and architectural refinement our clients were craving. To set the tone for the transformation, we began by creating a moodboard that blended timeless elegance with lightness and serenity.

We selected warm gray vanities and crisp marble surfaces, accented by brushed brass hardware and polished nickel fixtures. Linen-shaded sconces and a delicate chandelier add soft, flattering light, creating a harmonious palette designed to feel fresh and inviting for years to come. Let’s take a look at how it's all coming together...

Now, French doors separate the space from the hallway, instantly establishing a sense of spa-like separation and tranquility. Classic vanities with generous storage ground the space, while large mirrors and thoughtfully placed sconces create brightness and timeless appeal. The aesthetic is both elegant and enduring — designed to feel fresh for years to come.

The new, larger shower now features a rain shower system, allowing water to flow simultaneously from both the rain showerhead and handheld showerhead, which was a key request from the couple. This upgrade ensures that the water flow remains strong while accommodating both features. Elegant glass surrounds complete the aesthetic, while the adjacent luxurious stone soaking tub provides the perfect spot for true relaxation.
Natural light completes the space, creating an atmosphere of serenity that makes daily routines feel more like self-care rituals.
